A party favor is typically a small gift given to guests after an event thanking them for their attendance. These little presents are a symbol of gratitude or could also be a nice memento to remember the event by. It is believed that this tradition of wedding favors was developed by the European Aristocrats and were known as bonbonniere. It was generally a small trinket-like box filled with a type of sugary confection which used to symbolize wealth & royalty. Sugar was considered to be only something that royalty could afford & consume. Over the decades, sugar became less expensive and sugared almonds were given out more commonly.

Nowadays, wedding favors are more personalized to the bride & groom. Favors can be anything that the couple wants them to be. Modern brides are using all sorts of trinkets & such for party favors.
