Wedding Favors

A party favor is typically a small gift given to guests after an event thanking them for their attendance. These little presents are a symbol of gratitude or could also be a nice memento to remember the event by. It is believed that this tradition of wedding favors was developed by the European Aristocrats and were known as bonbonniere. It was generally a small trinket-like box filled with a type of sugary confection which used to symbolize wealth & royalty. Sugar was considered to be only something that royalty could afford & consume. Over the decades, sugar became less expensive and sugared almonds were given out more commonly.

Nowadays, wedding favors are more personalized to the bride & groom. Favors can be anything that the couple wants them to be. Modern brides are using all sorts of trinkets & such for party favors. Perhaps you are a couple who loves to travel or loves wine…these custom made bottle toppers are a great gift to give guests to show your love of travel…or wine! Homemade gifts are becoming ever more popular with the increase in DIY brides. “Spread the love” labels are great for a homemade jelly or jam for each guest to take home! Yum.

I know that if I am a guest at a wedding and I receive a homemade favor I can’t wait to go home and try it out! It is very nice knowing that you as a couple spent time together thinking & making something so personal to give to guests.

Miniature bottles of your favorite tequila or alcohol is always a nice gift to receive as a guest! Tie the bottle with a little ribbon & a personalized label and you are good to go! Or maybe you LOVE those maple candies from where you lived in Vermont…what a great way to include your favorite treats with the people you love!

A CD or mix tape of your favorite love songs is a beautiful way to thank your guests for coming to your wedding. What better way to have guests remember your wedding than by listening to songs about the lovely couple?

If you have a great wedding favor that you’d like us to see, please send in in to – we can’t wait to hear from you!
