Some of the Best Beaches on Maui

Hawaiian Beaches

Kaanapali Beach

One of the best beaches on Maui is Kaanapali Beach. This beach is very popular amongst vacationers and has many hotels along its 1.5 mile long beach. This beach is much less crowded than those on the island of Oahu. This beach is located in the west part of Maui and is perfect for parasailing, surfing, volleyball and sailing. On the northern most end of the beach is “Black Rock” which is known for snorkeling and cliff diving ceremonies that take place every day at sunset.

Hawaiian Beaches

Keawakapu Beach

This beach is considered to be more of a secret paradise which allows for the ideal getaway from the large crowds of people on the more populated beaches. Although it is smaller it always has wonderful swimming conditions and has soft sands which are perfect for sunbathers and children to make their dream sandcastles. A little off of the beach lies an underwater reef that is great for snorkeling.

Hawaiian Beaches

Kapalua Beach

Kapalua Beach is on our list of best beaches on Maui from its warm sands to its lava rocks and palm trees…this is one of the most popular beaches in the state of Hawaii. Ranked as one of the top beaches in the nation, this beach is perfect for families with children thanks to its calm waters and natural tide pools. In the winter you can even see whales migrating to deeper waters!

Hawaiian Beaches

Kahekili Beach

A little further down the beach of Kaanapali is Kahekili beach. These two beaches are separated by lava rock and a hotel but it is the perfect spot for amazing snorkeling and scuba diving. This can be a slightly more dangerous spot for swimmers because of the hidden rocks and strong currents so be careful when adventuring out that way!

Hawaiian Beaches

 Napili Bay

Check out this picture-perfect sunset! Napili Bay is a charming beach known for its fantastic swimming conditions, golden sand and crazy snorkeling. You could spend an entire day at this beach thanks to all of the great activities and easy access picnicking – this is where we would want to spend every single day!

Best Beaches on Maui

Makena Beach (Big Beach)

Makena beach is South Maui’s largest beach and is about a 50 minute drive from Lahaina. This beach is nearly 2/3 of a mile long and 100 yards wide. There is great swimming and snorkeling in these pristine waters. It is nestled in between two black-lava outcroppings and provides a more secluded landscape compared to more crowded beaches like Kaanapali and Lahaina.

Best Beaches on Maui

Baldwin Beach

This beautiful, long white-sand beach is a favorite with local families. This beach comes with the whole shabang – lifeguards, port-a-potties, showers, barbecues, picnic tables and a covered pavilion. Baldwin beach is very popular amongst boogie-boarders and even has a baby beach on the west end that offer calmer pools for little ones.

Haiku Mill

Haiku Mill

Haiku Mill

This beautiful wedding venue on Hawaii’s island, Maui, is set on the northeastern coast of the island. Haiku Mill covers two acres of ruins and tropical paradises. This sugar mill is also known as pua Le’a or “blossoming passion” in the Hawaiian language. The old world meets the elegance of Europe with this venue. In 1858 this land was turned into a sugar cane company by the Kingdom of Hawaii. It wasn’t until 1861 that sugar was being produced in the mill.

Haiku Mill

The Haiku mill was the first sugar cane mill in Hawaii with a steam engine and was added to the National Register of Historic Places listings in Hawaii in 1986. For over 100 years the sugar mill was abandoned and was overtaken by the lush tropical forests that ended up covering the thick stone walls. The only remaining part of this venue are the breathtaking stone walls that left an open-sky cathedral to let in the light.

Haiku Mill

Couples love Haiku Mill for its amazingly lush gardens flowing over the historic stone walls and into the scenery of their wedding ceremony and reception. This venue captures the beauty of Hawaii with the romance of the abandoned factory.

Haiku Mill

Haiku Mill

The sugar mill lights up stunningly at night with lights cascading through the open windows… the palm trees and greenery take you deep into a tropical paradise in which you never want to leave! How could you? Haiku Mill is one of our favorite places to have a destination wedding on Hawaii’s island of Maui.

Outdoor Hawaii Weddings

This elaborate wedding arch was the perfect piece for their wedding ceremony. The purples, pinks and greenery coordinated with the bride’s bouquet and hairpiece amazingly. Our favorite part of this stunning arch was the small hanging vases with flowers displayed inside of them, shown below.

Decorations as simple as a single flower in a glass bulb create wonderful reflections of the sun and make for gorgeous pictures. The purple and green colors featured in this wedding call us to the beaches!

Outdoor Hawaii Weddings

This Maui wedding took place on a perfectly green lawn overlooking the spectacular view of the ocean. This venue made for the perfect backdrop for this outdoor hawaii wedding.

Lush decorative flowers ranging from hydrangeas to orchids line the length of these simple white tables. Our bride, Phoebe  hung simple white lanterns above her brightly colored tables and once the sun went down they lit up for perfect romantic lighting.

Outdoor Hawaii Weddings

The colors of Hawaii and all of its tropical glory allow brides to use bright bold colors for their flowers and decorations. We love this simple table with hydrangeas, orchids and other flowers with candles lining the center of the table…how romantic!

Beach Weddings

Sand beneath your toes, waves crashing in the distance, slight salty breeze touching your face… Ahh yes, you’re at a beach wedding! From the East Coast to the West Coast to international waters, beach weddings are always ravishing. They provide the perfect scenery for your big day and makes the whole weekend fun for everyone involved. Here we look at a few great ideas for your own beach wedding.

Beach Weddings – DIY

Beach weddings are the perfect opportunity for different DIY crafts and touches. Take the sign above, for example. Easily made, cheap, and SUPER cute! Because beach weddings are more rustic than most, crafty DIY signs are a great touch to your big day. Along with signs, you can make fun wedding favors with things found on the beach, such as seashells and sand. There possibilities are endless (and really cheap!) On top of that, being barefoot is always enjoyable (the guy below agrees).

Beach Weddings – Venue

Picking the perfect beach for your beach wedding isn’t always easy. There are SO many choices. Do you want to stay close to home? International? Regardless of your choice, your beach wedding will be gorgeous. A few things to consider when picking your beach: Pick somewhere you can have all your loved ones attend. Sometimes international isn’t the greatest choice because it’s expensive and tough to get loved ones out there. Also, picking somewhere that has significance to you is always a good choice. Maybe a beach you used to go to everyday as a kid, or a place you have had a great memory. A place that holds significance to you will make your big day even more memorable.

Beach Weddings – Pictures

There is not better place to make wedding pictures than by the ocean. Barefoot on the beach with a breeze and a sunset will make for the most magnificent wedding pictures you’ll ever see. Feet in the water, holding hands, wedding kiss… Endless possibilities. Nothing brings out a smile more than love and the ocean breeze!

Kauai Weddings

 Kauai Weddings

Cher Weldon and Ron Jones traveled from Colmesneil, Texas to the beautiful North shore of Kauai where First Class Weddings arranged an intimate Hawaiian wedding ceremony.  Cher and Ron’s First Class Wedding took place on one of the most beautiful beaches in Hawaii on the island of Kauai, officially named Kauapea beach.

Kauai Weddings at Kauapea Beach (aka Secret Beach)

This beach is more commonly known as Secret Beach which is a wonderfully romantic and secluded location to tie the knot.

Inspired by Tori Spelling’s wedding, Cher had a distinct vision of what she wanted for her special day. The result…a perfect comprimise that included a romantic beach ceremony with Hawaiian Ukelele music, an aisle way scattered with orchids, custom sand castle display and a romantic private catered dinner under the stars.

Hale Lani

Secret Beach Hideaway Kauai - Hale Lani

Cher and Ron stayed at Secret Beach Hideaway's Hale Lani (shown above & below), a stunningly gorgeous cottage that sits atop a cliff overlooking the couple's ceremony location on Secret Beach.

The Hale Lani Kauai is secured by a gated entrance and is extremely private. This truly is a perfect hideaway for a Kauai Wedding.

Flowers included an all white Calla Lily bouquet, a traditional Maile Lei for the groom and a white Orchid Lei for the bride. Cher and Ron exchanged leis in a traditional Hawaiian lei exchange symbolizing their love and commitment to each other.

Cher, Ron and their Kauai wedding vendors - including a musician, a minister, photographer and even a sand castle artist made their way down the steep path en-route to the beach.

Custom Sand Castle

It was no easy feat yet First Class Weddings hired professional sand castle builder Julian Miller and he brought in the appropriate tools, sand and other secret ingredients to make this custom sand castle oasis exclusively for Cher and Ron!

Private Kauai Wedding Dinner Reception

This Kauai wedding was lit by Tiki Torches and candle light, Mr. and Mrs. Jones celebrated with a privatly catered dinner in a romantic canopy on the grounds of Secret Beach Hideaway's Hale Lani.

Congratulations Cher and Ron Jones!  First Class Weddings is honored to have been a part of your special day.

Hawaiian Vow Renewal

Hawaii Vow Renewal – 30 years strong!

Pege & Lenny Fischman celebrated their 30 year Hawaiian vow renewal with First Class Weddings. We are extremely honored to have been chosen to share in this emotionally charged and deeply heart-felt occasion. The Fischman’s and their two sons traveled all the way from Jupiter Florida so this was an extra special treat for us.

Pege Fischman

When First Class Weddings started planning with Pege in June of 2012 she specifically requested a small and private beach location. Although they were staying at the Puamana Condo’s on the West side of the island, we felt that a beach located 45 minutes away on the South shore of Maui would provide exactly what she was looking for.

Beach Wedding

After a few short months of planning, obtaining a Hawaii beach permit, hand selecting the perfect minister and securing one of the finest photographers on Maui, Pege and Lenny were re-married on August 16, 2012. The minister officially started the ceremony by blowing the Conch Shell.

Beach Wedding

Shortly after the ceremony started the couple laughed as they recalled memories and told stories of their past.  Precious memories for sure!

Beach Wedding

The Hawaiian island weather was perfect as Pege & Lenny yet again shared one of the most memorable days of their lives together.

Beach Wedding

Pege & Lenny have endured so much over the years and even told us that there were times that they thought they wouldn’t make it….yet here they are. This couple truly has what it takes to endure whatever life dishes out.

Beach Wedding

Pege’s bouquet consisted of pink ginger, cymbidium orchids, and dendrobium orchids.

Beach Wedding

First Class Weddings loves Hawaiian Vow Renewals and we completely adore Pege & Lenny Fischman!

Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Fischman & Family!

Our Maui Wedding

Hawaii Bride

Our Maui Wedding at Sugarman Estate

Our Maui wedding took place at sunset with our closest family present. The venue, Sugarman Estate, is a private property overlooking the Pacific Ocean on the Southern coast of Maui. When I arrived I was in awe at the beauty that surrounded me. This already picturesque venue had been transformed into my dream for our Maui wedding.

Our Maui Wedding Day

Our Maui Wedding Ceremony Location

By the water sat 12 bamboo chairs attached with purple hydrangeas. An aisle way lined with pink orchids lead to a custom wooden arch adorned with hydrangeas, roses and orchids in shades of my favorite colors which were purple and pink. Glass bulbs with pink orchids submerged in water hung perfectly alongside hanging votive candles, framed the backdrop of the ocean.

Glass Wedding Bulbs

Our Maui Wedding – Hanging Orchids in Glass Bulbs

My bridal party consisted of my two nieces, a flower girl and a Junior bridesmaid.  Guests were greeted with my nieces placing Hawaiian leis around their necks as they entered the property. I had not seen my fiancé the day of the wedding and peered out the glass doorways to watch while everyone took their places.

Junior Bridesmaid

Flower girl in Makena, HI

Our Maui wedding ceremony began as the officiate, dressed in traditional Hawaiian robe, blew a conch shell.  The string quartet began to play and the flower girl, then junior bridesmaid made their way down the aisle.  I walked down the aisle to Pacelbell’s Cannon in D, with my mother and father by my side.  I approached my now husband, just as the sun began to set.

Sugarman Estate WeddingOur Maui Wedding – Sugarman Estate Ceremony

We incorporated Hawaiian tradition into our ceremony by placing leis around each others necks and each of our parents.  We exchanged traditional wedding vows, placed wedding bands on the others finger and shared our first kiss as husband and wife.  After we were officially named Mr. and Mrs. Waggoner, we concluded our Maui wedding with the release of two white doves.

Hawaii Wedding Reception

Our Maui Wedding Dinner at Sunset

After the ceremony, our guests sipped Hawaiian cocktails while my husband and I took sunset photographs along Makena’s beautiful coves. To the side of the ceremony site was a white canopy which hung Chinese lanterns over a long rectangular table covered with white and purple linens. Floating candles and square vases of green, blue, white, pink and purple flowers sat atop a bamboo table runner.  Being as our Maui wedding was such a small and intimate affair, we opted for an elegant 4-course meal for our reception.

Wedding Cake with Orchids
Our Wedding Day Cake

We sat down to dinner as a jazz duo played, and shared our first dance before the first course arrived.  We ate, were toasted by our families and enjoyed orchid decorated cake.  As we drove off in the limo at the end of the night I couldn’t help but think what an amazing day it had been.  Thanks to First Class Weddings our Maui wedding completely exceeded our expectations.  I couldn’t think of a more perfect way to begin a life together.
